Cancellation Policy

Goldrush Ballooning Pty. Ltd., trading in Victoria as Bendigo Ballooning and in South Australia as Adelaide Ballooning, reserves the right to cancel any scheduled flight either if there are not enough passengers to make it financially viable, or if weather conditions are forecast to be either unsafe or unpleasant.

Generally, we need at least 4 passengers on weekends, and 5 passengers on weekdays to be financially viable.

Our policy is to stay on the ground if either the forecast or actual wind speed at launch time is 15 kilometres per hour or more. Although we are able to fly in light rain, we usually choose not to because such conditions tend to be unpleasant. Also, we try to avoid rain because a wet balloon envelope will attract mildew if not flown again within a few days.

As a commercial operation with a special duty of care, we are conservative about calling flights on. If there is any doubt in our minds about the weather, we tend to call flights off in sufficient time to allow those passengers coming from out of town to cancel their travel and accommodation arrangements. However, we do not guarantee to do so, and will not accept liability for whatever travel and accommodation costs have been incurred if we are forced to cancel a flight at short notice because of poor weather conditions.

A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking, with the balance payable on the day of your flight. Your deposit is fully refundable if either you cancel your booking not less than 48 hours before your scheduled flight, or we cancel the flight for any reason. Payment Options.

IMPORTANT: Please do not treat us as as if we're like a bus or train company carrying hundreds of passengers every day. Profit margins in commercial ballooning are surprisingly small. Even one cancellation, and certainly 2 or more cancellations for any given flight will completely eliminate any profit we might have made for that flight. If you cancel your booking for any reason including illness less than 48 hours before your scheduled flight, you will lose your deposit. If you fail to arrive for your flight, or if you cancel your booking for any reason including illness less than 24 hours before your scheduled flight, you will lose your deposit and incur a debt for any unpaid portion of your ticket price.
