John Addlem's Mulled Wine

Serves 8.

  cups red wine        
1
  teaspoon grated nutmeg

  teaspoon powdered cloves

  teaspoon five spice powder

  stick cinnamon

  teaspoons sugar

  juiced lemon

  pieces lemon rind        
           
Pour the wine into a medium-sized saucepan, and add all the other ingredients.
Place pan over a moderately high heat, and bring to the boil while stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Boil for 2 minutes.
Remove pan from heat, and strain the mixture.
Discard the lemon rind and cinnamon stick.
Serve hot at 1000' AGL in a hot air balloon.
